Tourism Policy Council Publication: Summary of Federal Activities and Accomplishments in Travel and Tourism (1/95 - 2/98)
Both the White House Conference on Travel and Tourism (WHCTT) and the TPC itself made numerous recommendations for federal agencies whose work affects tourism development in this country. This summary describes the activities and accomplishments of the TPC member organizations in their efforts to implement these recommendations. These recommendations cover nine issue areas: Public-private partnership, research, infrastructure development, product development, facilitation, barrier reduction, training and education, environment, and safety and security. The summary covers the period between October 1995 and February 1998.

In many instances, agencies worked together or complemented each other's work in order to implement these recommendations. In other instances, discussions have occurred, or are on-going, to develop and implement policies that will carry out other recommendations.

The names of contact persons/offices and telephone/fax numbers are included for more information on programs and policies which implement a WHCTT or TPC recommendation or other activity.
