Re-Igniting Growth in Travel & Tourism Summit – April 9 - 10, 2003 – Washington, D.C

On April 9, 2003, the National Chamber Foundation and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Travel Business Roundtable,and other organizations will host a travel and tourism Summit on “Re-Igniting Growth in Travel and Tourism.” This day and a half event will gather senior government officials, business leaders and the media to discuss and develop an action plan to stimulate growth and recovery in the travel and tourism industry. Secretary Don Evans of the U.S. Department of Commerce will be the luncheon keynote speaker. Assistant Secretary Linda M. Conlin serves on the Steering Committee for this event.

Issues that will be addressed include updates on the economic impact of travel and tourism, actions needed to restore the confidence in American travel and tourism, discussions on the image of the U.S. as a destination, and the sharing of key ideas for developing an international destination marketing campaign. The second morning will entail a roundtable discussion with a representation of international tour operators and wholesalers on key selling aspects for the U.S.

Please come join us for this important and timely Summit. Also, please note that the second morning is a special added feature for the Summit and is not be reflected in the program currently shown on the online registration and program format, due to be updated. The session will run from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on April 10, so please plan to attend as it will be included in your registration fee.
