The Importance of the Swedish Market: Attend TUR 2001

The Swedish travel market to the United States increased by 4% in 1999 over the previous year. By contributing 314,000 travelers to the U.S., Sweden remains steady as the 16th largest overseas market. Swedes spent $674 million in 1999, making them one of the top spending markets while visiting the U.S.

By 2003, the U.S. Department of Commerce expects the Swedish market to grow by 28%, and top over 400,000 travelers to the U.S. This significant increase is forecasted mainly due to the country's high expected economic growth rate.

Exhibit at TUR 2001!

The U.S. Commercial Service is organizing a U.S. Pavilion at TUR 2001, a top trade show that will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden between March 22-25, 2001. This forum will allow U.S. exhibitors to make sales leads, increase business contacts and expand market exposure to this important market.

Participation at TUR 2001 is your opportunity to increase your visibility and the flow of Swedish travelers to your destination. Last year, over 2,000 exhibitors from 100 countries were represented, and nearly 54,000 visitors attended TUR. The USA Pavilion at TUR 2000 was very well received by the exhibitors:

"Great work resulting in yet another great pavilion. Thank you. We will be back next year…" Graham Thornton, Marketing Manager, Capital Region USA.

"This was a great show. The people visiting my booth made my participation worth every penny. Thank you for all your work on behalf of Miami CVB…" Peter Moss, UK Representative, Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"Our participation in TUR over the past years have resulted in increased occupancy and the visitors from Sweden have quadrupled. We are delighted with the results. Thank you…" James Knowles, Owner of Roger Smith Hotel, New York City, NY.
